Public Health in Maryland

Public Health in Maryland

Maryland is a small state but mighty when it comes to public health. Our state is home to leading Federal health agencies, trailblazing state and local health departments, the headquarters of many public health non-profits, and top academic training programs. Maryland serves as a leader in tobacco control efforts, environmental health practices, an innovative Medicaid program, and so much more.

Recently, the Commonwealth Fund ranked Maryland among the high performing states during the COVID-19 crisis with high marks for access, affordability, and prevention programs.
