It's not too late to be an MdPHA Annual Event Sponsor!

Join us for MdPHA's Annual Event at Busboys and Poets in Takoma at 5:30 pm on Thursday, December 1 to learn about "Building Resilience within the Public Health Workforce and in the Community."

We are pleased to share that our speakers include Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), who embodies resilience, and resilience expert Dr. Wendy Ellis.

Congressman Raskin represents Maryland’s 8th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives and is a member of the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Jamie will share some remarks upon receiving the President's Award! His memoir, Unthinkable, addresses the tragic loss of his remarkable son Tommy to suicide at the end of 2020 and how, one week later, he returned to the House to help certify the 2020 election results but faced the violent insurrection led by right-wing extremist groups.

Our Keynote speaker Dr. Wendy Ellis, assistant professor and director of the Center for Community Resilience at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University, has completed extensive research in community resilience building and has been conducting this critical work with several health departments across the country.

The event will also include:

  • Complimentary appetizers and desserts (with the full menu available to those who wish to purchase dinner and drinks),
  • An opportunity for networking beginning at 5:30,
  • Keynote by Dr. Ellis,
  • Presentation of awards with remarks from Congressman Raskin; and
  • Board nominations for 2023.
Seats are limited, so register today! We look forward to seeing you there!
